Dr Lai Suet Yi (Cher) joined the Research Centre for China-EU Relations in Tsinghua University in 2014. She teaches and researches on European integration, China-EU relations and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). Cher finished her doctoral studies at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), in 2012. Her Ph.D thesis focused on the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM). Cher obtained her Bachelor degree in European Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2006. Since 2006, she has joined series of perception-focus project on mutual perception between Asia and Europe. She has published numerous academic journal articles and book chapters on the external image of the EU, Asia-Europe relations, China-Europe relations and ASEM. Apart from an exchange student experience in Lille (France) in the academic year 2004-2005, Cher finished an internship in a Brussel-think-tank, European Policy Centre, in summer 2010. Now as a career academic, she works closely with partners not only in Europe but also with Asian scholars on European studies.
