Heiner Janus

Heiner Janus is a researcher at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in the Programme "Inter- and transnational cooperation with the Global South" and a PhD researcher at the University of Manchester’s Global Development Institute. His research focuses on aid and development effectiveness, results-based approaches, Chinese foreign aid and the role of rising powers in development cooperation. Previously, he has worked as a consultant for the United Nations Secretariat in New York in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs on global development issues, including on the role of development cooperation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He holds a master's degree in politics, philosophy and economics from University of York and a bachelor's degree in economics from the Humboldt University Berlin.
