Jantje Theege is Head of Fundraising at the international non-profit organization Youth For Understanding Germany, leading a team of highly skilled fundraising- and alumni managers. With an exacting focus on strategic cooperation and organizational development, Jantje has established partnerships with institutions such as Stiftung Mercator, Robert Bosch Stiftung, Goethe Institutes Munich and Ankara, Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, US Embassy Berlin, BMWI – Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as well as the Bavarian Ministry of Education. Seeking out new forms of intercultural education, she has developed strikingly innovative programs in the field of intercultural exchanges, focussing on exchange projects with China, Turkey, the USA, Japan and Europe. Also, she has been effectively engaged in political lobbying for improving determining factors for intercultural education. Experience in EU fundraising and Individual Giving round off her professional skills. In the course of her career, she has raised a total of 8,5 million euro for the support of international youth exchange programs and intercultural dialogue. Jantje holds a master’s degree in German and English Literature and Culture, having studied at the University of Hamburg and University College London. In her Master’s Thesis, she focussed on Media- and Gender Studies, analysing how male and female identities are constructed in postmodern societies. She furthermore studied Fundraising and Non-Profit Management in Frankfurt am Main and in Washington DC.
