Mr Chenxi Yao serves as the deputy director of the division of WTO legal affairs in the Department of Treaty and Law (DTL), Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM). He is currently handling various WTO dispute settlement cases involving China both as parties and third parties, and has participated in a series of consultations, panel and appellate body hearings as well as FTA negotiations, providing legal analysis and support to WTO related issues. He worked as the attaché and the third secretary in Chinese Embassy in Kenya from 2010 to 2014, responsible for trade and investment promotion, China-aid capacity building projects for local government officials, technicians, youth leaders, community staff, etc.), making efforts to strengthen the bilateral economic exchanges between China and Kenya. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in law and a Master’s degree in civil procedural law from Beijing Foreign Studies University and China University of Political Science and Law respectively.
